    First White Man in Carden

    Champlain visited the “Carden car wash”. Champlain was the first white man to visit Carden”. His diary says the Huron Indians took him to visit a place where a river disappeared underground (The Carden Car Wash). This was 1612?? when the Hurons were traveling down to New York state. They crossed Lake Simcoe,(from Caliqueway-at Warminister) portaged to Balsam Lake and down the Trent system ,crossing Lake Ontario to invade the Iroquois
