In 1836 Patrick Donnelly bought 200 acres Lot 7  Con 3 & 4 in Mara. There is a Patrick Donnelly burried in Beaverton Cemetery... 17 oct 1856 that I thought was him. 
        Your site here puts doubt on that. The 1846 Browns Directory has him listed but  the 1850 directory lists Widow Donnelly. That certainly changes things. 
He is a hard man to trace.

you may find a Estate documents like a Will, at the Ontario Archives,  visit www.archives.gov.on.ca  for more info.
Also, the Simcoe County land registery office in Barrie, may be worth a visit. Sometimes Wills are attached to the land deeds. I found a copy of my GG Grandfathers Will attached to his land deed. They have the complete history of the land owners, on micro film, by lot & Con number.
