Horncastle (ghost hamlet)
as well there seem to have been 2 historical locations for the hamlet of Carden. One map shows it SE of Horncastle as a post office village on Victoria Rd while another shows it NW of Horncastle where Wylie Rd touches Alvar Rd..any ideas?

I have been fascinated with finding info and the exact location of Horncastle for over a year now. This past month I have done just that. And also- thanks to this site for info on its 2 schoolhouses. I wrote about Horncastle here:

There are some modern photos I took as well. I am wondering if anyone here has some old photos of the location and if anyone can direct me to some old foundations from the hamlet. Where was the post office? Was the centre of the hamlet located above the old alignment of the Horncastle Rd above Black Bear Rd..The area is quite swampy these days..
