Portage from Lake St. John to Lake Couchiching

I'm doing some research on this history of the Myland Trailer Park on Rama Road, and wondering if anyone has any information or pictures regarding the steam powered tramway or canal that went across this area from the 1860's. I am mostly interested in piecing together the history of the trailer park property before it was constructed, and want to know if this 'canal' was dug on that property. Is anyone familiar with this area?
