At the Soldiers Memorial Hospital,Orillia,on July 24,a well known resident of Point Mara, Mr David J. Speedie, son of the late Mr & Mrs John Speedie,ofBrechin,died. He was born in Thorah and later moved to Mara, where he spent the greater part of his life. He was a farmer and had at all times a keen interest in the welfare of the farm, his home, and the community which he lived. He is survived by his wife,formerly Ada Muir; three sons.John at home, Edward,of Toronto and Harold, of Beaverton. two daughters Adeline and Laura at home.and one grandchild William David; three brothers, Malcolm & James ofBrechin and John of Toronto.and one sister Mrs Dure (Margaret) of Brechin.Two sisters, Mrs Morely (Sarah) and Annie predeceased him some years ago. The largely attended funeral was held on Wednesday July 16 at his residence, lot 16,concession B ,Mara, where the service was conducted by the Rev. A.M.Partridge, of Peterborough .Interment was made at the Stone Church Cemetery.Beaverton.Ontario.
