John, and Ignatius O'Donnell Are "Missing In Action"
Mr. and Mrs. Frank O'Donnell received a telegram from the War Department at Washington, D. C., Friday morning advising them their two sons, John Patrick, Fireman lst class, and Ignatius Peter, Fireman 2nd class, were missing in action, in duty of their country's defense.
They were on the same ship, believed somewhere on the Atlantic.
John Patrick has been in the Navy the last 4 years and Ignatius for 2 years. They were formerly stationed on the USS Augusta Flagship.
John Patrick's name is among the 4601 names of missing American Servicemen who lost their lives in the Atlantic Ocean while engaged in combat during WWII, inscribed in granite pillars in the East Coast Memorial, in Battery Park, New York City, NY.
John Patrick was awared the PURPLE HEART MEDAL.
