- 1. In 1871 the family was resident in Rama Township, Simcoe County.
2. In 1877 the family lived at Concession M, Lot 9.
3. At the time of Findlay's death he was a married farmer as reported by R. McNabb. He was 90 years of age and a Presbyterian.
4. Family lore says that Findlay and Catherine met and married on the boat while immigrating to Canada. Because the marriage document says they were married in Oro that could mean:
a) They met on the boat and got married after landing.
b) They got married on the boat, but had to wait to register it.
c) The family story is untrue.
5. Based on the family story they would have immigrated in 1843.
6. Finlay's name is sometimes spelled as "Findlay". "Finlay" was used in his birth record.
