  • Genealogical Notes 
    • MURRIN, John Edward: regimental number 868308, enlisted in the 182nd (Ontario County) Battalion, June 8th 1916. Born in the USA, in 1878, he was married to Mary Ellen, with a son Samuel, working as a labourer, in Brechin. While in training, he was used as a recruiter in Mara, then later transferred to Whitby. Private Murrin, was in the Christie Street Military Hospital in Toronto, for seven months, before he died, 13 March 1922, his death was attributable to his service overseas, and is buried in St. Andrew's Cemetery, Brechin. His grave marker pays tribute to the sacrifices he made.
