THE DERRICK,--Tuesday, April 19, 1955--W. Davies, Dies Monday-- William (Jerry) Davies, of 401 East Front Street, died at 1:13 p.m. Monday in Oil City Hospital following an extended illness. He was born in England, and moved to Canada as a youth. For the past seven years he gad been a resident of Oil City. Mr. Davies was employed as a music instructor at the Polk State School. His musical background included studies at the Waddington School of Music in Hamilton, Ont., where he later taught, cornelist in the Scottish Highlands Concert Band of Canada, a tour of Europe with the Jack Hilton Orchestra, and playing under Sir Thomas Beecham, a noted conductor of London England. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Helen Moffatt Davies, a daughter Annie, a son Jackie, and two brothers George and Jack of Hamilton, Ont. He was a member of St. Stephen's Church. The body is in the Reinsel Funeral Home.
