Notes - Francis Alexander "Duke" Doucette, 94, of 321 S. Rural St., Chippewa Falls, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire.
He was born Jan. 2, 1916, in Chippewa Falls, the son of Albert "Tom" and Margaret (DeCaire) Doucette. Duke attended Notre Dame Catholic School and on Oct. 11, 1941, married Martha Pitsch at St. Charles Catholic Church in Chippewa Falls.
He held various jobs during the Depression, including the Chippewa Shoe factory, Woolen Mill, truck driver, fireman, and chauffeuring his father who was Chief of Police of Chippewa Falls. For 40 years he worked as a machinist, first at W. S. Darley & Co. and then for Amoco Plastics, before retiring in 1979. He was a handyman and mechanic who could build, fix or fabricate anything.
Duke was a lifelong member of Notre Dame Catholic Church. He was a member of the Holy Name Men's club and the Knights of Columbus Goldsmith Council 974.
Francis is survived by his son, William (Mary) Doucette of Rochester; two daughters, Susan Doucette of El Paso, Texas, and Georgia Doucette of Chippewa Falls; four grandchildren, Paul, Elise, Therese (Nicholas) White and John (Elizabeth) Doucette; and his faithful dog, Sammy.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha; his parents; five sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010, at Notre Dame Church, Chippewa Falls. Rev. Brian J. Jazdzewski will be celebrant of the funeral Mass. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20, and until 10 a.m. Tuesday, at the Horan Funeral Home, Chippewa Falls. There will be a Christian Vigil Service at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
