NEWMAN, Michael Francis - After a long and love filled life, Michael Francis Newman has passed away. On September 27th, 2013 with his family by his side, Michael slipped from our grasp and into the arms of his Heavenly Father. He was 84. Left to mourn his passing are his beloved wife of 57 years Patricia (nee Clark) of Capreol, his children Mary Moylan (Garry) of Longlac, Colleen Daciuk (Victor) and Michael (Janet) both of Capreol, Patrice Wolfe (Steve) of London, Andrea Bedard (Greg) of McCrea Heights, Peter (Liz) and Lara Foucault (Don) both of Capreol. Also feeling intense loss are his grandchildren Matthew (Amy), Andrea (Ryan), Nicholas (Tamara), Jennifer (Adam), Katelyn, Evan, Justin, Deanna, Logan, Brooklyn and Declan as well as two great grandchildren Ava and Lily. Mike was the son of Annie Lamb and John Henry Newman. He is survived by one brother Charlie (June) of Thornhill. Michael was predeceased by his siblings Edward (Lil), John (Lottie of Brechin), Harriette Crosby (Gerald), James (Shirley), Alice Slingsby (Harold), Marge McGowan (Jack) and infant Rose. He was born and raised on a farm in Uptergrove which led to a lifetime love of gardening. Pat and Mike married in Orillia in 1956 and moved to Capreol where he was employed by the CNR. After 36 years of service, Michael retired to the kitchen and garden. A highlight of family gatherings was his delicious and lovingly prepared meals which were followed by a rousing game of Euchre. A shrewd card player, he was sought after by everyone to be his partner. He was a man of great faith and a longtime and well respected member of the Knights of Columbus in Capreol. He could often be found at Our Lady of Peace Church worshipping, operating the elevator or cooking at the pancake breakfast. " Jesus said unto him, I am the resurrection and the life, he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live ". John 11:25.
