  Following the death of their widow mother, Catherine in 1870, the Kelly children were taken in by several families in the community. Per the 1871 census the KELLY children are residing with the following: Bridget 18 & Anne 9, are living with James Sheridan and family, in Mara, Patrick 16, is living with Alexander McRae and family in Mara, Tobias 14, is residing with William & Mary Cuddahee, in Brock Twp., while Mary 12, is living with Martin Mayock and family, in Mara Twp. from the Orillia Times, Thurs. Feb. 28, 1907-- page 5: Brechin--Mrs. C. Holmes, died at her home near here on Saturday last. The funeral will take place to St. Andrew's church on Tuesday.-- cause of death- consumption- per death registration MS935_131, 022135.
