Margaret L. Grant
(July 18, 1927 - October 1, 2007)
Margaret L. Grant, formerly of Simi Valley, died Monday, October 1, 2007, at her home in Lompoc at the age of 80.
Margaret was born July 18, 1927, in Hibbing, Minnesota to Willis and Eva Provost. She was raised and educated in Longview, Washington. She graduated with honors from San Fernando High School in 1945. She was a resident of the San Fernando Valley until she moved to Simi Valley in 1996.
To help support her growing family Margaret worked at the Bank of America in San Fernando, as a beautician, and later for the U. S. Post office, from which she retired in 1992. She was a volunteer and counselor for the Suicide Hotline in Northridge and a member of the Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Simi Valley.
Margaret is survived by her children and their spouses, Carole and Lance Blalock of Prince Edward Island, Canada, Thomas and Frances Grant of Lompoc, Brooke and Noel Flynn of Carlsbad, Bettie and Robert Blauser of San Clemente, Frank, Jr. and Debbie Grant of Medford, Oregon, and Mary and Tom Justin of Simi Valley. Her son Edward Joseph Grant preceded her in death in 1952. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
A memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 6, 2007, at 11 am at the Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 1305 Royal Avenue in Simi Valley by Father David Whorton, followed by inurnment in the San Fernando Mission Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Partners of the Central Coast at 277 South Street, Suite R, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401. Arrangements are under the direction of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary in Lompoc.
