LAURENCE CURRAN OBITUARY
CURRAN, Laurence Ernest Laurence "Laurie" passed away peacefully during the morning of December 20, 2020, at age 92. Laurie was born in Vancouver, British Columbia on March 27, 1928 to Stanley and Janet (nee Netty McKinney) Curran, and was the youngest of three half-brothers, one half-sister, and a sister. Laurie was a salesman extraordinaire, beginning with Coca-Cola as a teenager, starting automobile sales with Jim Pattison, importing Volvo, Isuzu, Sweden Freezer, and many others for the first time into Western Canada. He moved to owning and operating his own food equipment businesses, designing many of the Mr. Mikes and other steakhouses. After retiring, Laurie continued dabbling in collector plates, giftware, hobby tools, and real estate, just to keep busy. He became an author in his final years, publishing two books with more in progress. His greatest pleasure came from boating and travelling with his wife and son. Laurie married Evelyn "Ev" Donnelly on September 24, 1960 and three years later had their only son, Bradley. Laurie was predeceased by his parents, siblings, and wife. He is survived by his son, many nephews, nieces, and their families. Laurie will be buried during a private service in January of 2021, and a celebration of life will be held when it is safe to gather again. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and/or the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation.
