    • Clarence held many different occupations. He fought overseas in the First World War with the 21st Battalion. He saw action at the second battle of the Somme, Arras and Cambrai. On at least one occasion he suffered mustard gas poisoning. Clarence worked as a hired hand for Kathleen's father. He took over the farm after his death and he and Kathleen spent the rest of their lives there. Clarence and Kathleen had no children. --- Brenda Ruttle
