    • Orillia Packet and Times, Feb. 22, 1940, 10, Miss Rebecca Allewell, who had been in poor health for years, and who died at her residence, East Atherley, on Thursday, would have been eighty-three in December. Miss Allewell was born in Haldimand Township, a daughter of John and Mary Allewell. She came to Mara to live with her parents when in her girlhood and resided there for about fifty years. When her parents moved to Orillia, she went with them, but for last five years Miss Allewell resided at Atherley with her sister Mrs. James Irwin. She is survived by one sister. Mrs. Irwin, who is the last of a family of four girls and four boys. Her mother died in 1915 and Mr. Allewell died in 1920. Deceased was a member of the Atherley United Church, and was active in the Ladies Aid and Women's Missionary Society in her earlier years. Her interest in her church continued to the last. The funeral was held on Sunday from MacDonald's Funeral Home, Orillia, to the Atherley church, where service was conducted by the Rev. W. Gardner. Interment was made in Atherley Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mansell and Roy Allewell, Albert and Edgar Pomeroy, Alex Anderson and Wm. Jackson

Rebecca Allewell, daughter of the late John and Mary Ann Allewell, aged 82 years. The funeral was held from A.T. MacDonald Funeral Home, to Atherley church, where service was held. Interment Atherley Cemetery
