Patricia (Pat) ARCHER
Obituary
ARCHER, Patricia (Pat) (nee HAYES) June 19, 1920 ? February 12, 2018 On Monday, February 12, 2018 our beloved Mom, Grandma and G.G. passed away peacefully in her sleep at Scarborough Retirement Residence, her home for the past five years. Cherished wife and best friend of the late Vern Archer (June 6, 2005), for almost 61 years. Devoted and dearly loved mom of Leonore (Nick Barnard), Paul (Heather MacDonald), Marty (Karen Kelly), Joanne (Keith Kritzer), Larry (Kirste Spencer) and Mary (predeceased May 24, 1974). Proud and delightful grandma of Matthew (Clea Clark) and Martha (David Rae); Mary Elizabeth (Bob Crocker) and Alastair Archer; Graham (Brianne Collins), Erin (Paul Clementi) and Emily (Luke Kairys); and Madeleine and Camille Archer. Treasured G.G. to Ruby, Parks and Cooper Barnard; Henry and Will Rae; Isabella Crocker; Connor Kritzer and new baby Lauren Clementi. Mom was the daughter of the late Teresa and Neil Hayes. She was predeceased by her siblings Mary King, Helen McCabe, Teresa Bashford, Sister Frances Hayes and Rev. J.J. Hayes. She is survived by her younger sister Leonore Moore, whom we know will miss Patty deeply. For 96 years these two have been sisters, best friends and companions sharing life's ups and downs, never, ever, far from each other. Aunt Pat will also be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews on both the Hayes and Archer sides of the family. A graduate of St. John's School and Malvern Collegiate and lifelong resident of the city's east end, Mom was a gentle, kind-hearted woman who was nourished by a deep and abiding lifelong Christian faith. The doors to her home and to her heart were always open. She revelled in her large and growing family, always supporting and nurturing it and ready to celebrate life's many milestones. Mom was also strong. Born on the farm, forged by growing to adulthood in Depression-era Toronto and in the workforce throughout World War II, there was little that intimidated her. Long after most of her peer group had passed away, Mom marched on, happily and cheerfully, a role model to the very end on how to live and how to love. The family will receive friends at McDougall & Brown Funeral Home, 2900 Kingston Rd. (near St. Clair Ave. E.), on Thursday, February 22nd from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John's Church, 794 Kingston Rd., on Friday, February 23rd at 10 a.m. Reception will follow immediately at The Toronto Hunt, 1355 Kingston Rd. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Thornhill, on Friday afternoon. If desired, memorial donations to the Mary Archer Go Fund Me Campaign would be appreciated by the family (www.gofundme.com/maryarcher). We extend sincere thanks to the entire staff at Scarborough Retirement Residence for the friendship, care and genuine affection they have shown Mom while she has lived there, particularly during the past month. Mom, you are finally Home. Rest peacefully in the warm embrace of Dad, Mary and all of your loved ones. You will be missed beyond measure.
