The Canadian Post, Lindsay, - March 20, 1891

      From Brenda Ruttle

'In March 1881, Thomas married Sarah Hutchings. According to her son, Clarence, Sarah was born in Leeds County Ontario. Her parents moved to the area of Brechin Ontario when she was a little girl, about 6 years old. Sarah remained behind in Leeds County. She lived with her grandparents, near Newboro Ontario. After her parents settled in Brechin Sarah made the long trip to join them, accompanied by her pet lamb.
Immediately after their marriage, Thomas took his bride home to Warburton. They packed all their belongings on a sleigh and began the long trip to Leeds Co. When they reached Port Hope, there was more mud than snow, so they sold the sleigh and transferred their belongings to a wagon to finish the journey."
