McGowan--Fountain
At St. Columbkille's church, Uptergrove, decorated with pink and white gladioli, was the setting on Saturday, October 5, for the ceremony of Theresa Fountain, daughter of Mrs. Albert Fountain and the late Mr. Fountain, of Uptergrove, to Francis McGowan, of Toronto, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred McGowan of Brechin. The Rev. Father Nealon performed the ceremony and Mr. Francis Egan of Orillia, played the wedding music and sany Ava Maria during the signing of the register.
The bride, given in marriage by her brother Edward James Fountain of Uptergrove, looked lovely in a traditional wedding gown of white slipper satin, long tight sleeves with points over the hands slight train and heart shaped shirred headdress from which fell her finger tip veil. She carried a cascade bouquet of red roses. She was attended by her sister, Miss Anna Fountain, as maid of honour, in a gown of pink sheer with matching shirred headdress and shoulder length veil and carried a cascade of Joanna Hill roses. Miss Norine McGowan of Orillia, sister of the groom was bridesmaid in a gown of blue net over taffeta with shirred headdress and shoulder length veil and carried a cascade of pink roses.
Mr. Jack McGowan, brother of the groom, of Toronto, was the best man. The ushers were Mr. Jack Fountain, brother of the bride, Mr. Clifford McGowan, brother of the groom.
At the reception held at the cottage of her aunts, Mrs. McDermott of Toronto, and Mrs. Oatsill of Detroit, Mrs. Fountain, the bride's mother received the guests in navy blue crepe with navy accessories and red rose corsage, assisted by the groom's mother in fushia crepe dress, black accessories with corsage of Joanna Hill roses.
For a honeymoon trip by motor to points south the bride and groom travelled in identical brown gabardine suits and the bride wore a corsage of talisman roses.
They will reside in Toronto.
