Notes - Lived on the 6th concession of Mara Township where he owned 100 acres of land although only about 20 acres were cleared, the remainder was bush and swamp. Moved to Toronto after the family were grown up and lived with his daughter Hazel and her husband Fred Juffs above their bakeshop at 1158 Danforth Ave., worked for a lumber company until his inability to read or write and keep records forced his out of his job. Kept the farm and returned there most summers for the rest of his life.
